I know i have grumbled quit a bit, and i think justifiably so… but there is also a lot of natural beauty here too.  Lately in the mornings when i take Zach to school, you can smell the flowers  in the air, a sweet floral smell. Another thing is the mountains have been quit clear the last few days, only in the morning. They are quit green and have neat ridges, some mountains are from craters like one in Honolulu (Diamond head). i don’t know if that is what all were formed by here on Oahu. They are quite lovely and a contrast to the bare rocky snow caped mountains of Alberta.

Now that it is starting to cool down it is more comfortable to do things like go for walks and maybe s soon here go on a easy hike with the boys. Zach always loved going to the ravine back home, it would be nice to find a place we could go here.

For some reason i  had the camera up high so you get a lot of sky, but you can kinda see the street and you can see many cars, (well a lot of trucks!) on either side of thestreet, and ther is a truck comming down

Now i think wow driving in Edmonton is a dream, compared to this!!  Let me explain, and remember I’m not in Honolulu, I’m in more of a small town, the streets in down town are bigger, but still poorly marked and lot’s a one ways, and the lights are set up weird there too. Soooooooooo first off almost no one uses a damn turn signal! It’s so bad in-fact that a “safety tip” with our insurance bill one month was “let others know what you plan to do, use your turn signals, to avoid accidents” WILD i know that you have to be told that, but it’s freaking awful!  what makes that worse is VERY often people just stop for seemingly no reason, OR and this one kills me, you are making a left turn out of side street  or even going off a main road, and some times (more often then you’d expect, but not enough to know if every person is going to do that) people going strait through or turning right will stop for you!! and it’s busy and you’re like what the hell dude you have the green light and the right of way GO.  The Hawaiians call this “being polite”  I call it flat out dangerous! you literally never know what to expect!!

Also people will just back right out onto a street into on coming traffic…. i have had to swerve more then i remember having to in Edmonton. What compounds this problem is streets are soooooooo crazy narrow (I’m going to have to take a pic and post cause it’s madness). It’s one way each direction in the neighbourhood streets and there is often no sidewalk or one on one side of the street so people walk bike what ever on the side of the road, yet another obstacle. Speaking of walking cars often do not stop at cross walks for you even if you are in the middle of the road even if you are pushing a stroller. I used to think what jerks (and i still kinda do) but i swear on the way to the Mc D’s just up the street (like 8 blocks) you drive through i shit you not about 12 just painted lines cross walks!! so it does get hard to be vigilant for crossers (though i still try to be), when there is an absurd amount of cross walks (especially remembering there isn’t much for side walks!)

Which brings me to another point… cars park on the side of the road, on the grass in-front of houses since there is no parking lane, that doesn’t sound so bad except i swear ever house has at LEAST 2 cars it’s no uncommon to see 4 or 5 cars for one house (like our neighbours). Now whether this is do to lots of people renting part of there house to people or what i don’t know, but literally ever one and there dog has a car here. Because of this you can not see a damn thing when your trying to turn onto a more major road… you have to guess and test, and pray!

IT IS FREAKING MADENING!!  and yet i have been managing to drive “across town” (like the distance from heritage mall to south common), still every time i have a store about jerk face drivers.

Obama certainly has his work cut out for him to get this country back on track. I’m excited and anxious to see what he has in store for the country…..  Of every thing i really really really hope he comes threw for the people on health-care!!

Let me tell you what i hear from people here, in the paper and on C-span and the like.  People are against health-care for all, as they think it will make USA a “socialist” country! I ACTUALLY read people saying that Obama is the same to them as Joesph Stalin, Kim Jong ill, Vladamir Putin! can you even believe that?!? they are thinking that health-care for all even those who can’t pay is BAD thing….. I’d love to to know if there tune would change if they found out they had some terrible (but treatable) illness that they HMO wouldn’t cover, then what would they be all “well at least I’m dieing a extreme capitalist” then living as a capitalist with benefit’s.

It is mind blowing the arguments i have heard them use against Obama, one guy on a voters focus group on television didn’t like Obama because he and i quote “talks to smooth and communicates well to people” and the question ask-er guy then said well do you think that is a good thing in worldly relations? and the guy said No, that it’s not important to have some one who speaks well, and gets people to understand them, mind blowing isnt’ it?!?!?  Then i remind my self where i am, USA A.K.A. the center of the universe!!!

It is wild, the McCain campain attacks the fact that Barack was a community planner, saying what is that?! Palin went so far as to say “yeah i guess being a small town mayor (her former job) is a bit like being a community planner, except that you have real responsibility’s!”  They haven’t the slightest idea of what that job or what he did for the devastated Chicago community! Nor do McCain and Palin have the slightest idea of what it’s like to come for nothing in Hawaii. Hawaii could eat a person alive, it has the highest Meth use in the country. Any ways i getting off target here.

Did you know that Sarah Palin’s hometown required women to pay for their own rape examinations while she was mayor!!!  (link to article)    Because she is so pro-life (and rape kits have morning after pills), pro-churchy, she’s forcing her teenage pregnant daughter she forcing to marry the loser that got her pregnant. Also people rag on Obama that he has no experience, well what the hell kind’a advising is Palin gonna give McCain? how to pageant walk? Also this woman in a speech she gave ended it with vote fore Palin McCain, she’s the running mate, NOT the candidate, she should never ever ever put her name first, to me that speaks volumes about who she is!!

There is so much more but it’s getting late and i guess we’ll all know tomorrow night how things are gonna play out.

Just hope people will make the best choice for the country! not an arrogant self serving one!
